The Band

Full of restless, forward-leaning energy; always onto the next idea.

She and Mira have known each other since they were children, and Mira was the first one she asked.

She loves to sing herself, but she heard something in Mira that Mira had kept quiet, and told her to sing.

“It was the first to burn.”

Level-headed, but withdrawn and unhurried. Not one for crowds.

Outside of singing she rarely shows anything at all. When she sings, all of it comes out.

“It stays dim, and then all at once it doesn’t.”

Silent. She does not speak at all, though she is bright and full of motion.

She likes making the others laugh, usually by doing something absurd.

Wide open, and still the one holding the band together — she says nothing, and probably reads the room better than anyone.

“From one side, it never moves at all.”

Gentle and unhurried, content to hang back and watch.

Her playing is the opposite — fast, hard, and at home in quick changes. On solos she takes the center of the stage.

“It shows brightest when everything else goes quiet.”
